The New York State HOBY Corporate Board is pleased to again announce the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership New York State Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded in May 2003 to a member of the high school graduating class of 2003.
The recipient will receive $1,000 to be used toward the expenses of a post-secondary education at an accredited school.
HOBY Scholarship Application (110k)
We encourage all of you to fill this out and return it prior to April 4, 2003. The Scholarship will be awarded to the candidate who best displays the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership ideals of leadership potential and service to community, and who has made an outstanding contribution to HOBY.
The Scholarship is available to a senior graduating from any public or private high school in New York State who has attended either a HOBY seminar or Community Leadership Education Workshop (CLEW) in New York State. The recipient must also be accepted for matriculation at an accredited post-secondary college, community college, military or trade school. The award is contingent upon enrollment in and attendance at a college, military or trade school. (The award can be carried over for up to one year if extenuating circumstances are found that prevent the awardee from attending school in September of his or her award year, based on approval from the HOBY New York State Corporate Board.)
Once again, we are happy to offer you this opportunity to help deter the costs of a post-secondary education and we look forward to receiving your application.
Should you have any questions regarding the application process, please feel free to contact Jennifer Janes at 315-687-0058 (home) or via e-mail at janesjus@yahoo.com.
